Friends:
As I prepared for this week's service, I felt led in some ways I had not anticipated but want to try. The sermon is called “Trigger Points and Our Life in God’s Eyes” and emerges out a personal experience I had this week and Genesis 21: 8 –21 (Hagar's forced exile in the desert with her son Ishmael) and Matthew 10: 27-30 (Jesus' warning about valuing the state of our soul.) I'll include a story i came across involving the spiritual healing of a prominent physician just before her death. We'll then going into an time in which you can choose to use for personal reflection, the singing of hymns, or coming to one of three benches for an anointing with oil.
The band will lead the first part of the service. During the offering, Suzanne and Betty Kilb will play a cello/viola duet. Jo will lead the choir and the rest of the service, inclduing the hymns towards the end.
A team of people working on spiritual formation plans for the fall will be meeting you at the door to offer you a survey that will help us fine-tune our plans.
