The Session is the governing body of the church. Representatives, called elders, are elected by the congregation to serve a three-year term. The session is composed of twelve members with the pastor as moderator. The Session makes decisions on behalf of the congregation with each of the twelve session members assigned to one or more of the nine committees. Church members volunteer to serve on the following sessional committees, which are usually chaired by an elder:

Christian Education Committee: Responsible for planning learning opportunities for children preschool through fifth grade by coordinating Sunday School, mid-week (LIFT) family program and Villa Summer Music and Arts ( vacation Bible school). The committee is also responsible for providing quality care in the church nursery and promoting and maintaining the church library. Meets monthly.

Congregational Life Committee: Responsible for the active membership of the church, encourages people to join our fellowship and all to participate in areas of interest so they may enjoy and serve Christ. The committee offers outreach to visitors, new members and helps track membership status (active, friend, inactive) They provide for the organization of vital intra-church activities such as church dinners, picnics, Sunday morning coffee, greeters, Visitor’s Table and act as liaison to Brown Baggers, seniors group. Meet monthly.

Endowment Committee: Encourages person to promote the Kingdom of God through the dedication of their material resources by way of gifts, devises and bequests to support the mission of the church. Manages , supervises and keeps accurate records of and the distribution of such funds and reports yearly to session. Meets as needed.

Mission and Peace Committee: Develops an understanding of the total mission of the church and relates this to the church through programs and opportunities to serve. They provide speakers, promote special offerings, opportunities to serve such as Habitat for Humanity, coordinate church activities with PAX 2100 peace initiative and continue to build on our congregational relationship with the church in Ghana. Meets monthly.

Personnel Committee: Provides an organizes way for session to fulfill responsibility to all employees of the church including job descriptions, performance reviews and equal opportunities for employment. Committee meets as needed. Properties and Finance Committee Supervises the financial affairs of the church including corporate meetings and affairs, developing and overseeing the church budget, and provide for an annual audit. The committee is also responsible for the maintenance and improvement the church property. Meets monthly.

Spiritual Formation: Responsible specifically for the nurture of the personal and communal spiritual lives of members and friends. They plan for programs, Bible studies, classes and retreats designed to deepen the spiritual lives of adults. Meets as needed.

The Worship Committee: Assists in creating meaningful and appropriate atmosphere for worship in coordination with the liturgical year activities for Advent, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost and other special worship services. They assist the Director of Music, coordinate and help serve, communion, and provide ushers and lay leader participation in worship. Meets monthly.

The Youth Committee: Provides opportunities for youth to discover and experience God as creator and Jesus as Savior in their lives. Affirms and support youth fifth grade through high school through Sunday School, mid-week youth program (LIFT), confirmation classes, L.O.G. (Love Of God) peer lead weekend retreat, mission opportunities and programming and planning for special events. Meets monthly.

The Board of Deacons is elected by the congregation and each deacon serves a three-year term. Deacons serve others through the ministry of compassion. Each of the nine deacons is assigned specific responsibilities for a year. The deacons reach out in the following areas: promote a program to identify local mission needs and implement funding, coordinate the quarterly bloodbank drive, prepare and help serve communion coordinate serving of meals at Transition House and Community Kitchen, minister to sick and needy through cards and meals, plan receptions following memorial services and help coordinate efforts of Parish Nurse. Meet monthly.
